Manual Lymphatic Drainage
This is a gentle, rhythmic style of massage which mimics the action of the lymphatic system. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) stimulates the immune system as it helps move stagnant tissue fluid out of tissues and through the lymphatic system. It aids in the removal of cellular waste and toxins, reduces inflammation and swelling and improves skin condition.
Conditions Treated Include:
Swelling/fluid build up (face or body)
Breast tenderness (pregnancy/ menstrual cycle)
Post surgery (dental /cosmetic)
Manual Lymphatic Drainage for Cellulite
Cellulite forms in the superficial fascia, a layer of connective tissue below the skin that contains fat cells. It presents as a dimpled or rippled look of the skin, present most often on the thighs, buttocks and abdominal area.
A cellulite treatment consists of deep tissue and myofascial release techniques to help break down adhesions and mobilize fat trapped between connective tissue. Stagnant and toxic substances which have accumulated in the tissues are released. MDL techniques are utilized to help facilitate the process of removal of these substances from the body. Drinking lots of water post-treatment is recommended to aid with the removal of toxins from the body. A successful cellulite treatment programme would combine the treatment with a healthy diet and some form of cardiovascular exercise.
The cellulite treatment programme consists of one or two treatments per week for 6 to 10 weeks.
