Sacro-Occipital Techniques
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)

The Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is a gentle chiropractic method that focuses on assessing and adjusting the spine, cranium, extremities, and organ systems.

The Role Of Connective Tissue

Connective tissue, known as fascia, envelops and stabilises all organs, nerve fibres, blood vessels, bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles in the body. This tissue is highly sensitive, almost as sensitive as the skin. When fascia experiences stress through the nervous system, it tightens, causing distortions and misalignments in the body.

The Importance of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)

Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. It supplies essential nutrients to the nervous system and helps remove metabolic waste. Proper CSF circulation along the spine is crucial for maintaining optimal health.

Key Focus of SOT

The primary focus of SOT, and other chiropractic techniques, is the connection between the sacrum (the keystone bone of the pelvis that forms the base of the spine) and the occiput (the base of the skull). The natural movement of the sacrum and occiput during breathing helps pump CSF up and down the spine and brain. Stress-induced tightening of the fascia and spine can restrict this movement, particularly affecting the sacrum and occiput. This restriction impairs the nervous system's function by disrupting CSF circulation.

 Why Choose SOT?

Choosing SOT means opting for a technique that prioritises gentle, effective care, addressing both structural and neurological issues. Whether used alone or in combination with other chiropractic methods, SOT offers a path to improved health and well-being.
